This car was built in 1959 by Canadian National Railway in Canada for use by executives inspecting the railroad and entertaining dignitaries and customers. In 1993, the car was sold to private owners and moved to its new home, Barstow, California. In 1996 the car was sold to its present owners, who began a major overhaul of the car. The wheels and underframe were disassembled and inspected. The electrical system was modified to make the car compatible with Amtrak equipment. The overhaul is now complete and we are ready to tour the west in luxury.
Tioga Pass is equipped with a lounge/living area seating 12, four staterooms, a full stainless steel kitchen/galley, and a dining room seating eight for meals.
The car has two generator systems to provide electricity, a hot water circulating system, and complete waste treatment/disposal systems. The car meets all requirements for railroad equipment including Federal Railroad Administration requirements, Amtrak specifications, and environmental rules. |
